Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She's an American musician and singer. She was the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 21st, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP on the Dreamville Records label. This was when she gained her first notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet back in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014, she continued to release her music on the web, including her own launched single Bound. The song Sweat it part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time was interested in having her work on Rihanna references. She officially was signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is a song that she recorded with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP on Oct 21, 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018 she guest-starred on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. and Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. The music video then released in September. Her second single Grampa on November 9. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It was then released as a standalone single in February of 2019 to coincide with her debut album. The song, made available with a video on YouTube 20 February 2019 has been viewed over 3 million times within the first 7 days.
